About
The first Pebby Bear was made somewhat last minute for a show at the Station Inn in Nashville. I posted a video of him to Tiktok asking what in the world he was, and a mom commented that her daughter Hazel saw him dancing and yelled “Pebby Bear!” (her version of Teddy Bear). The internet and I agreed that the name was perfect, and thus a star was born. After a successful show opening for the legendary Meels, a clip of Pebby Bear turning his bum to the audience in defiance went viral on youtube. His dancing and attitude captivated the masses, so I decided to attempt to make a smaller cardboard version of him. Thus began the second wave of Pebbies.
What I intended to be a cute, bouncy mini Pebby turned out to be an unsettling skittery spider-like Pebby. But the internet fell in love. He was quickly followed by Centipebby, whose antics and attempts to attack me mid-dance were greatly enjoyed by the masses. I made dozens more cardboard Pebbies, and some tiny clay ones as well, all of which were welcomed and loved by their adoring public.
Since Pebbies were named and evolved with much help from the internet fans, I figured that the Pebby Merch should also be influenced by the fans. I put out a call for Pebby art, expecting a few dozen doodles, and to my shock and delight, within a few weeks I received over 200 drawings, from a class of kids to professional artists and everyone in between. I love all these Pebbies so much. They are all full of joy and whimsey and love. Pebby is rapidly taking over every art form, and I have all of you to thank. I hope you love the Pebby merch as much as I do, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for Pebby and all his fans.
